Yo Ho Lyrics

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot
Drink up me hearties, yo ho

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We extort, we pilfer we filch and sack
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
Maraud and embezzle and even high-jack
Drink up me hearties, yo ho

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We kindel and char inflame and ignite
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
We burn up the city we're really a fright
Drink up me hearties, yo ho

We're rascals, scoundrels villains and knaves
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
We're devils and black sheep - really bad eggs
Drink up me hearties, yo ho

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We're beggars and blighters and ne'er-do-well cads
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
Aye, but we'er loved by our mommies and dads
Drink up me hearties, yo ho

An ancient curse on the Aztec’s gold,
made for Hernando Cortes of old.
Now this curse is upon someone else besides,
they search for the pieces of gold, no matter the tides.
Captain Borbossa, and his cursed crew,
in the moonlight they are shown true.
They cannot eat, they cannot drink, nor can they die,
they’re living skeletons when the moon shines in the sky.
But now they have everything needed to lift this horrid curse,
yes all but one, they must get the right one to pay the blood worth.
The blood of their old captain, yes old Bootstrap Bill,
But he’s been downed, so they need his son Will.
Will lifted the curse, and for the pirates it was quite a shocker,
But alas for Borbossa, he’s gone to see Davie Jones’s Locker.

Movie Goofs--taken from here

Port Royal, Jamaica, is built on a low spit of sand south of Kingston Harbor, nowhere more than about ten feet above sea level. The movie set has it built atop hundred-foot basaltic cliffs.

Elizabeth Swann's maid fills a bed warmer with red-hot coals and then places the warmer at the feet of Elizabeth, who is lying in bed. That's not the way bed warmers were used. They held warm, not red-hot, coals, and were placed in bed before one turned in and removed before the sleeper lay down. If used as shown in the movie, they would have barbecued one's feet.

Captain Norrington is "promoted" to Commodore. However, commodore was not a rank in the British navy, but a posting. A post captain could be appointed commodore (meaning he commanded more than one vessel) for a specific task, but when that task was completed, he became a post captain again. A promotion would have made Norrington an admiral.

In the opening scene, the line that keeps the umbrella that is floating in the water pointed straight up is visible in the shot of the umbrella floating past the side of the ship.

When Captain Norrington tells Elizabeth he wants to marry her, she faints and falls into the water almost hitting rocks. Jack Sparrow jumps in the water and rescues her, and there are no rocks anywhere in sight.

Townspeople in Port Royal have shoes fastened by Velcro which was not invented until the mid-1900s.

A cannon being loaded (with chain shot) is still smoking. The barrel would have been swabbed before loading to prevent any smoldering particles from setting off the new charge while loading.
